Given the high attendance the Material Xperience 2011 may be called a success! 17.200 visitors visited the exhibition up to Thursday, 11.000 of which the first three days and 6.200 on Thursday. The total number of visitors was 22.500. By comparison, last year in total 9.500 people attended the Material Xperience event, that lasted three days.

The announcement of the Best Material 2011 award was at the last day: the winner is Graphic Concrete.
Best Material 2011
A jury of creative professionals (Bas Gremmen of Gremmen Architectuur, Gonnette Smits of Muurbloem, Erwin Deibel of Robin Hood Producties, Robert Muis of Architectenweb, Els Zijlstra and Eva de Bruijn of Materia) has selected five materials from over ninety participants based on their creative, aesthetic, sustainable and inspiring character. The public has chosen a winner out of the five nominees.
Graphic Concrete acquired 34 percent of the votes. The material will have a special place in the soon to be opened Materia Inspiration Centre in Amsterdam.
Nominees
The nominees for the award were fiber-reinforced concrete by Creative Cladding, Coconut Wood by Coconut Wood, Glass Print by Steinfort glass and soft Refined structure EPP by HSV packaging.
