It's finally there: the first Material Explorer newsletter! But before you read on, we would like to thank you for your support and for registering with www.materialexplorer.com. Besides the material search engine we will also introduce some new features, such as articles and a forum in the near future, so visit the website regularly!

Glossiness... shine How something strikes us - what our senses register - depends on the sensory properties of the material. Designers can use these sensory properties to evoke a particular perception or create a particular effect. This article is particularly concerned with glossiness - shine and glitter. How do they work, what effect do they have and how can they be included in a design?
In the spotlight! Every month we select a material that is interesting either because of its sensorial or technical properties, or just plainly because we like it. This month's material is 360 Glass. The glass is treated in such a way that it looks like a coagulated liquid, creating a very special effect.
